Welcome to the YES - Young Europeans Sailing, the Kiel Week of Young Sailing, which takes place annually over the Whitsun days in the Strander Bay.
After the YES had to be cancelled in the pandemic year 2020, it is canceled as well in 2021.
The YES (May 22 - 24) will not take place in Olympic harbor Kiel-Schilksee. Please read the following press release...

The developments in the pandemic are shaking up the regatta calendar in Europe mightily. Many sailing regattas have already been completely canceled. And there is still no end in sight: the regatta world is in postponement or cancellation mode "thanks" to Corona.
Now it also hits the Young Europeans Sailing (YES) for the youngsters over Whitsun (originally planned: May 22 to 24). "We didn't take the decisions lightly and looked for alternative dates, but the new hard lockdown until April 18 put the icing on our decision," said Dirk Ramhorst, organization manager of the Kiel Yacht Club regattas.
"As with the postponement of Kiel Week to September, we have been met with a lot of understanding for this decision," added Sven Christensen, Point of Sailing. The partners, class associations and active sailors have been informed and support the decision.
Although Kiel Week 2020 has shown that the Kiel organizers can handle the pandemic, "we have the hygiene concept of the previous year in our pocket and can use it for any sailing event," says Ramhorst, but this is not the right sign now.
Traditionally, the integration of junior championships is also planned. This year, the German Junior Championship in Laser Radial (U22) and the German Junior Championship (U22) in Laser Standard had been tendered to the YES by the German Sailing Federation. "We know that due to the cancellation some classes are missing a planned opportunity to sail important points for the ranking list, and therefore we have of course also looked very intensively for replacement dates, but we have not found a suitable one," Ramhorst explains the cancellation of the Kiel Week of the young. To give the active players planning security for their season, the decision was made now shortly after the political decision.
As an organizer of large regattas, the Kiel Yacht Club takes responsibility and supports the measures of the federal government to contain the spread of the virus. All participants who have already transferred the entry fee will of course receive a refund. Please fill out the attached form and send it to the e-mail address firstname.lastname@example.org. The processing may take some time.
We ask for your patience and understanding!
Stay healthy and see you next year!
